It has been a long hard struggle to get here and I want
to thank all of those who have given me encouragement and kind words along the
way. When I started this there were
doubters, there were those that said it couldn’t be done. We, you and me, have proven the doubters
wrong. Not only did I go past day 3 I am
now on day 30 and it has been a long hard journey to get here. In honor of our 30 day anniversary I thought
I would take a moment and review the long hard road it took to get here.
Day 1, I remember like it was yesterday. I was scared as I laced up my old running
shoes, unsure if the strenuous activity would clause the cholesterol running
though my veins to clog my arteries like a pound of butter stuffed down a sink
drain. The only thing that hurt worse than the pain in my chest was the pain in
my legs.
Day 3, I thought about quitting.
Day 8, I finally got a pair of new running shoes after
having to run in old sneaker for a week.
I don’t know how I made it. They changed my life and pain in my toes
dissipated.
Day 10, I thought about quitting.
Day 16, I was late for work as you know I hate traffic.
Day 21, I finally made it to the track. I ran the gravel
circle several times. It’s safer than
jogging the road where it appears we have a population of dislytic people since
the speed limit is clearly 35 yet every one reads it to be 60.
Day 24, I thought about quitting again.
Day 26, I attended spin class and made myself healthier
y’all.
Day 28, Visited the Boston Marathon memorial and finish
line.
Today!
This morning I resumed AM Exercises and jogged the
neighborhood. The humidity was a thick warm blanket wrapped around my shoulders
and I was sweating profusely in only a few minutes in. I could feel the grease
from this past weekend meals oozing out my pours. Briefly I smelt sugar and concluded it must
have been me sweating out the cannoli’s. There is a big difference from running
on a treadmill and running out doors.
On the bright side I have found that I really do feel better
throughout the day, I am not a sluggish and I come home with more energy. The
first few days were the hardest but now I am at a point where I wake up a few
minutes before the alarm goes off.
Goals for the next 30 days are as follows:
1. Lose
another 4 pounds.
2. Work
in weight training.
3. Do
an exercise video a week.
It looks like I have my work cut out for me in addition
to continuing AM Exercise. It should be
an interesting next 30 days. For now there are first 30 are behind me only 335
more days to go.
