I don’t dispute that nutrition has a major role to play
in weight loss it’s just that the more and more I think about it, it seems that
it might be the lynchpin in the whole equation.
Without bogging down too much let me just go back a little to a time where
my doctor told me that paleo may be the way to go for me.
Scene: Me… Shirt off… Doctor with a stethoscope…
Doctor: You know you hear of people living to very old
age (my Doctor is of foreign decent)
Me: Yes, I know. (I also know I have high blood pressure
and perhaps high cholesterol)
Doctor: It is all about their diet. The foods they choose. It will help you (he takes a deep breath and
thumps his chest) live longer.
Me: Okay, what
should I do?
Let’s be honest, who doesn’t what to live longer? Now a certified Doctor of Medicine is telling
you that they have the potential key to everlasting health and beauty (maybe
not beauty and to be honest he never told me I would live longer). But anyway, who doesn’t want that?
My Doctor told me to get a book he ever gave me a copy of
the pages where I could order it on Amazon. Thus my paleo diet is born.
I have realized that since I have been paleo that milk,
in particular, bothers me. If I eat
anything with milk, cheese, yogurt it upsets my stomach. I felt that way for a while now which makes
me sad since I love cheese and crackers.
Bread, as well, makes me feel awful.
I spent all those years that I thought my upset stomach was from eating
too much and now I believe it was actually the food I was eating that was
making me sick.
I am mentioning this because I am still thinking about
nutrition and how I can get more calories from good food. I am becoming convinced that part of my lack
of weight loss is from not eating enough. Some of the problems not eating
enough calories causes are:
·
Slowing thyroid production
·
Lowering testosterone levels
·
Decreasing leptin levels
·
Decreasing muscle mass
·
Decreasing energy
Today when I came home from work I just didn’t feel like
jogging. It was one of those days where
I had to fight with myself to change clothes and lace up my shoes. My body kept saying, “I’m tired” and I kept
telling it that it was because it’s fat.
Maybe I should feed it more?
In the end, I banged out 35 minutes at a moderate
jog. My legs felt well compared to
everything else.
Daily Recap:
Matt: 35 minute jog in the PM
Kelly: TBD.
