Day 61: Heavy Metal

It was your average ordinary day.  I worked my half day Friday, got my teeth cleaned, and hit the gym.  I decided to do a heavy lift day and really ramp up the weights.

I did a full body workout starting with my shoulders.  I did presses and increased the weights until I couldn’t lift any more.  On the last set I lowered the weight and increased the reps to 15 my shoulders were burning by the end.

I moved on to chest next.  Piling on the plates and going as high as I could go and still do a minimum of six reps.

Next was I did back.  I used two different machines and hit both my upper and lower back going as high as 180 pounds.

What I am most proud of is what I did next.  I like to do legs before I hit my triceps and biceps since usually they are shot from bench-presses and back rows.  I was going to hit the free weight leg press but there was someone else on it and I didn’t want to wait for them to finish.

I made my way over to the machine press.  Last time I tested myself on the leg press I was able to do 360 but, if you remember, I paid dearly for it. My legs hurt for three day.  Today was different.  My legs felt good so I started at 260 and was shocked at how easy it was.

I increased the weight to 300 and still had to problems.  To make a long story short I eventually maxed out the leg press machine.  395lbs.  I did three sets and was spent.

For triceps I moved on the cable machine and wound up sharing it with another fellow gym goer.  We traded off since the rest of the cable machines ere occupied.

I finished by blowing out my biceps and left tired and worn out.  Tonight I feel my workout but it’s not killing me… yet.
