Day 62: Run, Fat Boy, Run

Today was hot and overcast all day with, yet again, the threat of rain gloomily hung over head. Several times throughout the day it sprinkled just long enough to increase the humidity and make the heat almost unbearable.  Around 3PM I became convinced it wasn’t going to rain anymore and I decided to head out in the steam and high temperature for my daily exercise.

Let me also just say right here how hard it was to run today.  Not hard as in physical, I mean, that it was a mentally hard day to get out the door and to convince myself to just do it.  With all the gloom it would have been a perfect day to just sit on my couch and nap or watch TV. Why is it that gray days seem to suck the life from you and ?  Forcing my fat body out the door was a real chore.

With the jog already feeling like a burden, I have to admit that the first five minutes felt like I was running in a swimming pool.  There was also my sore muscles from the heavy weight full body work out that I did yesterday at the gym.  The jostling with every step brought a reminder from my chest muscles and lats that I may have overdone it a little bit.

Although my legs felt tight they didn’t hurt anywhere near as bad as they did the first time I worked them out with heavy weights.  Still when it came to moving my bulk, my pace wasn’t all that great.  I only maintained a little less than four miles an hour pace.  It took me 47 minutes to complete my three miles.

Days like today I find extremely hard to motivate myself.  This blog is still serving as external motivation for me.  I am not sure I would have ran today if I wasn’t being held accountable somehow.

My pace increased the longer my jog went and by the end I felt pretty good.
