Some days, time and everything else will just get the
best of you and you will find yourself facing an almost no win situation like I
had today. My problem was complete and total
lack of time with completely poor planning on my part. I fully admit that I
should have planned better but I didn’t so sue me.
At 7:30 I still had to cook dinner as well as having
multiple things going on at one time there wasn’t any way I could get
everything done and go for a jog and then it hit me. What if I combined two of my activities to
get my work out in.
In this eureka moment I went to my garage and got out my
dumb bells. Now, thanks to my genius, on the back porch while I was grilling I was
able to get in a complete total body work out.
My set went something like this.
Shoulder Press
Put the veggies on the grill.
French Curls
Bent over rows
Put the steaks on the grill.
Push Ups
Flip the steaks.
Bicep Curls
Dead Lifts
Flip the steaks
Squats
… And Done
Shortly after the completing my squats I plated my steaks
and grilled zucchini and ate dinner. During all this we had three pots of spaghetti
sauce on the stove. In all, including
today’s harvest, we have harvested, off of 5 Roma Tomato bushes, almost 24 pounds of tomatoes. I would think there is still another 20 to 25
pounds of tomatoes out there right now waiting to ripen.
Pretty amazing considering the amount of rain we have had
has all but killed my zucchini bushes and cucumber vines. My green beans are doing well although not
producing quite like they did last year.
Well that was about it for today and yes I am patting
myself on the back for thinking of combining activities to ensure I got my
daily work out in. Life sometimes seems
to work hard to get in your way and you sometimes have to get creative to get
around it.
