It was a beautiful day one that could not be squandered inside
working out in a gym. No, a day like
today needs to be experienced and enjoyed in the sun. What better way to spend some of the day than
out on the water again in the kayaks.
We unloaded at the boat dock and hit the water. At first we thought we had made a mistake
since the water was extremely choppy. If
you have ever had to paddle a boat in choppy water it is no fun. You spend most of your time fighting the
wind.
A water skier went zooming by throwing up quite a
wake. I took it head on and the nose of
my kayak dipped causing me get soaked.
The water felt great. It was
about the tempratture of bath water. I
envied the people in the boat.
Once we got away from the main body of the lake and the
skiers the water calmed and became like glass.
It was smooth paddling clear to the dam.
We turned and headed back for a loop around the island.
Once we exited the back of the island the water got
choppy again. My back and shoulder
muscles were feeling the brutal paddling I was putting them through trying to
get speed and completing about 60 strokes before tiring.
The skiers went by again and forcing us to fight their
wake across the widest section of the lake.
You find yourself fighting large rippling waves that are pushing against
you.
In the end we were back at the boat dock a little tired
but happy to have gotten a chance to get out on the water again before the
rains returned.
