This morning was a bit hectic. Kelly had an early afternoon flight to Dallas
and, as usual, there seemed to be a ton of things that needed to get done and
not enough time to get them done in.
After breakfast which consisted of a “Green Monster” (more on that
later) we hit our new gym again.
This time we jumped on the regular treadmills. I was determined to pick up my speed and burn
some calories. I started at a 4.5 mile an hour jog and increased the speed and
incline ever few minutes. Soon I had a pace
at 5.8 miles an hour and a 3.5 incline.
This I found challenging. I dialed
down the incline and held 6.1 miles an hour for two minutes before running out
of gas. I consistently held my heart
rate way above what the recommended values on the treadmill peaking at 169 beats
a minutes and holding it there during the 6 mile and hour run.
I dialed down the speed and ramped up the incline and was
able to hold my heart rate to a consistent 148 a minute walking at 3.8 on a 10
incline. I don’t hold on to the treadmill
either. It always cracks me up when you see these people who have a 10 or 12
incline and they are holding on to the side handles for dear life. You are not getting the benefit of that full
incline so what is the point.
Now we move back to the “Green Monster.” Kelly found a smoothie recipe that includes Spinach,
Kale, Coco nut milk, and a frozen banana.
I was shocked at how not bad it tasted as a long time ago I had tried
several smoothie recipes that I could not stand. We sweeten it up a little with some honey and
you hardly notice the veggies in it.
However the white coconut milk turns to pale green in the blender. Thus the name.
