It has been six months and I would estimate a little over
400 miles since I started in my Asics.
It was time for new shoes. We set
out to explore several stores and see what they have and then check out the
review to see what was worth buying.
After not really finding what we were looking for we
ventured into the big shiny new sports store that just opened called Academy
Sports. It’s one of those massive sports
stores that carry everything from Kayaks to Shot Guns, Golf Shirts to Running
Shoes.
We did a run through of the shoe department and took
pictures of the ones we were interested in and went to lunch to compare them. I had decided on two pairs of shoes: The
Saucony Kinvara 4 and the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14. Both got good review and both were good
looking shoes.
It came down to feel.
The Saucony felt narrower than the Brooks. Inside the shoe felt like it supported my
foot in all the wrong places. I was disappointed,
after all cheap Matt knew buying the Sauconys would save $15.
The Brooks felt perfect.
It felt softer under foot than my current pare of Asics. They felt stable but had a little heel
slippage which I figured would go away when properly laced and tied. I got them.
Kelly got a new pair of Asics and I got a reflective vest for night
jogging.
After we got home the sun had already gone down. I laced up my new shoes put on my reflective
vest grabbed a small flash light and set out.
Even after securely lacing them there was still a tiny bit of heel
slippage. The cushioning was great giving
me a soft ride and stable control running both up and down the steep hill.
I must say I am very pleased with my new shoes and would
recommend the Adrenaline series to any runner.
